Brandon Janes is a fiddler/ vocalist from Austin, Texas, who lives in Córdoba, Argentina.

Dubbed “Bub” by his friends and family, Brandon is a Texan above anything else. He grew up driving his 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 between the honky tonks of Austin’s world famous music scene and his family’s cattle ranch in Zavala County, on the Texas-Mexico border. As a teenager he was thrust into the influences of Austin’s underground Western Swing and traditional jazz music scene, Erik Hokkenen, Warren Hood, Shorty Long, and the happenings of the legendary Austin hipster hangout Flipnotics.

Since his early days, his music has taken him around the world: He has performed in Spain, Portugal, France, Israel, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Argentina. In 2016, he received a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires to conduct the first-ever square dance in Argentina. More than 350 Argentines attended.

Brandon is currently involved in several music projects of the bluegrass swing variety: Brandon Janes & Damian Chiozza, Córdoba-based bluegrass duo, The Slim Chickens, Córdoba-based hillbilly jazz and bluegrass, Brandon Janes & Juan Lucangioli, Buenos Aires-based bluegrass duo, Un Deux Trois, Córdoba-based Western Swing trio, and The Old Time Sailors, a Buenos Aires-based bluegrass-Irish big band.
